He leads a team of dedicated ladies and gentlemen who help create experiences and memories for guests β all while having fun themselves! A former professional water polo player, Asela is also passionate about water safety at his hotel and beyond. He regularly organizes water safety classes for area school children, as well as conducts lifesaving training in Qatar and other countries in the region. It brings our team together and makes us better able to serve our guests. When he joined the hotel three years ago, Asela was immediately recognized for his commitment to learning about areas outside of his Recreation department.
Two years ago, Asela took the initiative to meet with a local beekeeper to arrange the housing of bees on the hotel property. He recognized that the local children were very fearful of bees and wanted to create a safe and controlled environment for them to learn about the importance of bees. The hotel has since hosted over 1, school children to learn about beekeeping and how to properly handle bees.
Once, when an unexpected sandstorm affected an outside event with guests, Asela and his team helped move guests inside and organized team-building activities for them while the banquet team helped set up indoor space for the event. The customers were so impressed that they have since returned to the hotel three more times for their events.
